In this post our guest blogger Sarah Jones explains how we can avoid getting our marketing mails trashed by customers.

Marketers look up to email marketing as the best sales pitch and marketing option. Though digital marketing has grown immensely it has its pros and cons. Your marketing pitch can get into the junk mail ditch and the moment this happens you become a spammer leading to a suspended account.

Your well composed emails will turn out to as junk mails and will go unopened, nobody bothering to read. How can you avoid falling into the junk mail ditch?

Ask for Permission

Op-in mails and easy “unsubscribe” option backed with quality content can be one factor to avoid falling in the junk mail trap.

Build Relationship

Emails must be considered important for it to not fall in the spam category. Customers must want to open their inbox read it and not trash it. Your emails must be beneficial for them so that it does not lead to the trash can. To avoid such situations apart from opt in mails and unsubscribe option you must develop a friendly rapport with customers making it conversational. Interact with them developing a two way communication method wherein communication benefits both. Making it interactive and conversational a friendly rapport builds up gaining customer confidence. This leads to more of emails to be opened read and responded.

Gain Confidence

Gaining customer confidence and make him feel important increases your conversion chances. Healthy conversation and exchanging ideas, understanding their requirements and working together is always a good idea. To get rid of the spam trap make sure you send mails using your name. A real person talking and responding to them is required. Automated mails do not work much in your favour in comparison to a real person responding to the customer replies. Manually replying to the customer responses requires marketers to develop a friendly approach. Making them feel important and asking about them gives it a personalized approach.

Listen to Them

Make it an open forum for discussion and ask them their views about the products offered. Listen to their reviews take their feedback and ask questions. Make it a platform for people to discuss their opinion over the offered products. A real person interacting with them makes them take time out of their busy schedule and respond to the emails.  A good and steady conversation helps you build a healthy relationship which happens only with time. This in turn helps in building company goodwill and is beneficial in the long run. So, this requires you to woo customers in a patient and friendly manner to get rid of the spam trap.
