Newspaper Wars: The Hindu TVC

In recent times of dropping readership, popular dailies have started advertising over Television for themselves. Times of India came out with a (lousy) ‘Wake up!’ campaign. The ad in my opinion, was too lengthy, and the message too boring. Times i think, got too carried away with their strong online presence(TOI and other Times Group websites).

Recently The Hindu, has come out with a new advertising campaign, which takes TOI head to head, and I believe is a nail in the coffin for TOI’s ad campaign. The campaign also has a provocative tagline “Stay Ahead of the Times”.

Here are the ads. The ads are funny and also bring out the flaws of the… well, “Beeped out” newspaper reader!
